Abstract:Nanometer Al2O3 powder is prepared by sol-gel method. Transmission electron microscope(TEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), thermal analysis, IR and the grain-testing instructure are used to characterize the particle shape and phase, chemical bonds of hydrous cassiterite and size distribution after being heated. XRD and TEM show that the powder is fibrous γ-Al2O3 at 800 ℃ and spherical α-Al2O3 at 1 200 ℃. The grain-testing instructure shows that the average particle diameter of γ-Al2O3 is 36.2 nm while that of α-Al2O3 is 125.6 nm. The IR shows that aluminum stearate is synthesized in the process of sol-gel.
